Maasin, Iloilo, August 09, 2022 – After almost three years, the country's economy slowly reopens, with the government easing its
restriction and COVID-19 vaccinations covering the majority of the population.
Aside from that, schools are also gearing up for the upcoming face-to-face classes. The Department of Education (DepEd), in its continuous efforts to uphold its commitment to learning continuity amid the COVID-19 pandemic, advocates for the progressive expansion of the face-to-face classes across the country. The education sector has issued Revised School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) to prepare the schools for the safe, effective and efficient conduct of face-to-face learning modality.
The Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo (RCMI) had extended assistance to the Tigbauan Elementary School and Tigbauan National High School of the Municipality of Maasin, Iloilo by donating the needed equipment and medicines for the respective schools’ isolation rooms.
RCMI, with the leadership of Imagine President, Marcos B. Jurquina, spearheaded the club’s representatives in the turnover of 12 electric fans, 4 folding beds, and assorted medicines.
The turnover was graced by the principals of both schools, the barangay chairman, teachers and parents.
President Jurquina said the club is hoping that the equipment and medicines will serve its purpose in the schools’ opening of classes. The collaboration between the parents, the teachers, local government, and RCMI on Brigada Eskwela opens a deeper and meaningful partnership.
Maasin is a third-class municipality and located about 40Km from Iloilo City. The location is on the mountain ranges of Panay and on elevated area. Maasin ranks 202nd in infrastructure and 205th in resiliency according to Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index 2021 Rankings between 3rd to 4th class municipalities.
